Aprons

Pattern: I took apart this bizarre apron (yellow with a green rick rack Christmas tree) that I got at Thriftown and used it as the pattern.
Fabric: The groovy turquoise ones are made from a recycled Ikea bedspread and the red & white ones are from stash fabric.
Sewing time: Around 1.5-2 hours each
The sun came out last week (although it was decidely gone today) and suddenly my crafting fancy turned to sewing. Knitting? Ha! What's that? I, for the time being, am a sewer. In honor of this proclamation, oh and Mother's Day, I turned out these four aprons as gifts for my mom, aunt, and their friends. The ladies loved them. Mission accomplished! (Hey, where's my flight suit and banner?)
Once again, I was reminded of how, although sewing can be fraught with annoyances (did I just cut the fabric going the wrong direction? dang. did I just sew a right side to a wrong side? doh!), it is quick satisfaction. If I put my mind to it, I might be able to move through some of my fabric stash. I can't ever imagine that happening with my yarn, but that's another story altogether. Some projects I have my eye on:
What's on your sewing table?

Your aprons are so wonderful. My sewing table? I have to buy a sewing table and then break out the sewing machine. But, I am inspired by you and your projects.

Those aprons are so cute! What great gifts. I'm feeling you on the sewing thing. I think the need for speed is in the air.

Oh my, I need to finish my thesis if only to do some sewing this summer! I've actually got big plans for some T-shirts (some too big, some too small), plus my big hoodies.

What beautiful colors! The aprons hanging outside on the line is such a gorgeous summer image, it makes me restless to get outside and play! I need to get me a sewing machine!

I love all the blue you have going on there. It makes me feel like Aunt Bea in Mayberry. I want some pie to go alone with those aprons!

I purchased a remake pattern (orig. 50's) for the one yard apron a few weeks ago. I have still to get sewing, but your's have inspired me. Love your Veste Everest as well, I'm 2/3 into the back on mine.
