Whew! I finished the dress I am wearing in my brother's wedding just in time and with a little help from my friends (thanks, Anne!). This is the photo I snapped myself, but I am sure there will be plenty from the wedding day (Monday!).
I made some changes to the pattern. Because the pattern on the fabric was so large and distinct, it wasn't going to work for the straps. So I used some ribbon backed with fabric for the straps. I also lined the entire with blue organza with the intention of having some peek out at the top and at the bottom. It turned out great at the top. At the bottom it was uneven and didn't complete the line of the hem very well, so I shortened the lining. I considered taking it out entirely, but it gave the dress some body.
The families are descending on NYC as I write this. Mr. and I leave tonight and arrive in the morning. The wedding and family activities will keep me busy and hopefully away from yarn shopping. (OK, I *might* stop by School Product and the Morehouse Merino booth at the GreenMarket. And, maybe Purl since it's literally steps away from where brother and sister-in-law live). After the wedding celebrations, it will be all trains all the time with a ten-hour trip to Montréal, followed by a round trip on Via Rail Canada to Québec City.
Wow, this is our first long vacation together since I can't remember when . . . our trip to Colorado in 2001? Is that right?
I'll try to blog a bit along the way, at the very least I'll be sharing wedding photos.
Take care.
I love it! Sweet! I was going to mention your tits again, but then I thought that would be inappropriate and like maybe I somehow linked your breasts to every single post you made somehow and DAMN! I did it again.

You are amazing! The dress looks gorgeous. What does organza feel like? Have fun at the wedding and hopefully we can get together and knit when you get back.

Gurl, that dress came out just lovely. You're a good little seamstress.
