So, this weekend I had all of the pieces of the knitted gift for my cousin. In addition to the armwarmer dealies below I also made her a hat. To please Anne, and to be a good knitter, I thought I would block the set so that they would be truly beautiful. However, as soon as the hat hit the water it expanded by at least 50%. The yarn is superwash, so shouldn't it wash superly? I panicked and ran over to the laundromat where I threw it in the dryer with a couple of towels. It eventually shrunk, but not quite back to where it started it. The funny thing is that the armwarmers did not expand. Now, I knit the hat on 7s and the warmers on 6s. Could that be the issue?
As it turned out I bought more than enough yarn to re-knit the hat for her, so I get to keep the original-now-enlarged hat. Go, mistakes!
Oh hey, I am watching the fourth season of Buffy and could not be happier. I even HATE, capital H, capital A, capital T, capital E, Riley, and I am still in love with watching this show. It doesn't hurt that Spike just came back to town. I got the first disc from the library and watched it in two sittings. I couldn't wait the several weeks that it will take to get from the library, so disc two just arrived from the Netflix today.
Oh, and another thing, did you watch the Orange Bowl last night? I didn't even though Little Sister goes to USC and it was probably required viewing, but (a) I hate football and (b) ok there's no b. However, I did watch the half-time show. What was wrong with everyone's microphone? Was it planned as a way to cover up Ashlee Simpson's "singing"? Did you hear the incredibly flat back-up singer during Kelly Clarkson? Yeah, me, too! Then, then, there was the world premiere of the new U2 video. Who is letting these guys still be famous? Are you buying their albums? If so, please stop encouraging them. I will admit that I have a weakness for that one song. You know the one that goes, "If you want to kiss the sky, you better learn how to kneel. On your knees, boy." But, that is the exception that proves the rule. What I really want to know is how they became so integral to the American experience. The SuperBowl of Football in 2002, then more recently at the opening of the Clinton Library, and now their freaking video world premieres during the SuperBowl of College Football? Plus, their video was a total rip off of vastly superior video for Big Time Sensuality. I guess they weren't counting on anyone in the audience remembering a nearly 12 year old video (How is this possible? 12 years?) by our Icelandic friend.
Gurl, that ain't how we block over up on Princeton St. We use the steam and avoid such tragedy.
I have loathing for U2 also. Of course, it's connected to a bad experience with a man. Well, he was a boy at the time. Anyway, Everlating Love is pretty OK. Except, I think it's a cover. Hell, for all I know it's another David Bowie song.
