Shrugging in the shrug
Originally uploaded by Big Sister.
Sounds odd, looks great--that is the truth behind the Turtleneck Shrug. I will say that it looks much better on than it does just without a body in it. It was easy as pie to make: knit a couple of 20" long tubes, bind off a few stitches, a decrease here and there, bring it together with a turtleneck and voila! A unique warming device for the fashion fearless. I wore it today and got almost no funny looks. And for being knit in Cascade 220, it is barely itchy at all. More photos found on Flickr, as usual.
The specs
Pattern: Turtleneck Shrug by Teva Durham from Scarf Style
Yarn: Cascade 220, #9336, 2.5 skeins (I think)
Needles: US 7s
Gauge: 20 st/4" in 3x3 rib
Teva Durham is a genius. I can't believe that the Loop-d-Loop book is taking so long to come out. It might be time for a fan letter.
The Accordion Sweater for Wylie is awaiting its zipper and then photos! On the needles now are the long unfinished Retro Rib Socks. I am a little worried that I am going to run out of yarn, which would suck because nowhere, but nowhere sells Patons Kroy in these parts. I am also making Coronet for my resident social worker, Jen. In honor of Coronet I learned how to knit without a cable needle today!

CUTE! I love Teva. That is awesome. I have to go get that book.

Gurl,
I sent the eggplant Lamb's Pride Coronet to Megan, you know, because she's been down in the dumps lately, and she LOVES it. I kept the other for myself and it's lovely.

I'm almost finished with the first sleeve of this shrug and I've been having serious doubts if I will be brave enough to wear it. Your's looks so great it has given me the courage to knit on!
